Hello Panthers,
I would first like to show my appreciation of all the Classmates that attended the Eagles game this past Sunday (Oct. 11) at Club Miami.  Following the game we held our 1st Planning meeting for our 2010 reunion.  Those that stayed for the meeting were:
Donna Brooks
William O Brower Jr
Inita Brown
Michael Chamberlain
Raelund Dickerson
Wayne Dyches
Curtis Greer
Leigh Heron Timbers
Frieda Reiman
Angela Starks Pryor
Joanne Williams Campbell

1st topic  for discussion was making a choice between the standard 5-6 hour Reunion Dinner/Dance vs an entire Reunion weekend with the Dinner/Dance on Saturday.

The Reunion weekend idea won convincingly.
2nd topic was the choice of which weekend.  Acknowledging that most Reunions are typically held in the fall in order to avoid conflicts with family vacations during Summer months, the choice was made to tentatively hold the dates October 1st, 2nd and 3rd 2010. That is from Friday to Sunday.
3rd - decision to maximize efforts to locate as many of the 414 graduates that are         listed in our yearbook.  To include utilizing Facebook. My space, Classmates, search engines and old fashion usage of last known addresses and phone numbers.
4th -  Choice of venue TBD but likely to include lodging on site.
5th - Itinerary is fluid and yet to be finalized. Some considerations include:
Fri -  check-in/getting settled with late afternoon-evening happy hour gathering
Sat - Afternoon functions TBD    Evening Dinner/Dance
Sun - Family picnic (location TBD)
6th - Decided to develope an adequate Tribute to our Classmates we have lost too soon.
7th - It was unanimously agreed that we must include our original class sponsor Mr.
       Thornton.
8th - We realize that by holding our first meeting now we have a full 11 months to plan,
for which we will begin with monthly meetings for now on the 1st Sundays of the
month.  As we draw closer to the actual reunion date, the meetings will increase
to Bi-weekly and ultimately weekly leading up to the best Reunion Mastbaum has
ever witnessed.  The Next Meeting Will Be Sunday November 1st 2009 location TBD
9th - We will soon be unveiling our own Web site using Class Creator. Look for my E-mails
10th - Committees have been formed and we encourage as many of you as possible to
join and assist.  Future emails will be sent out with lists of Committees w/members.
Final discussion topic was centered around the Online Reunion discussion planned for this Wednesday (Oct. 14) from 7:30pm - 10:30pm on www.classmates.com organized by Debbie Lorch.  Participation in this chat forum can only add to more ideas for a great reunion.  Let's focus on my motto that guides me though this planning process "Optimism over Pessimism"
I would also like to take this time to thank the planners for our previous 2 Reunions (1985 and 1990) and hope that they will want to be included in what we are trying to accomplish.

In closing, I would like to share how excited and privileged I feel to hear the many positive responses that have been sent back to me these past few weeks.  Thank you again for the participants that attended our first meeting and look forward to seeing even more next time. Until then

Will  (COE Enthusiast)
